Big Idea:

The Bible is very clear that just as God forgives us, we must also forgive others.

Key Scriptures:

Matthew 6:5-15

Matthew 18:21-35

Luke 1:1-13

Romans 8:28

Romans 12:18

Colossians 3:13

Ephesians 4:32

Questions for Discussion

Getting to Know You: What would you do to celebrate if all your debts were suddenly canceled?

  1. On your own, read Matthew 18:21-35. Which character in Jesus’ parable of the unmerciful servant do you most identify with? Why?
  2. How do you usually handle it when someone has wronged you?
  3. Which of the following is hardest for you to do: ask for forgiveness, give forgiveness, forgive over and over, forgive and forget? Why?
  4. What have you found helpful when resolving conflict?
  5. If you feel comfortable, share a time in your life where you found it very difficult to forgive someone. How did you eventually come to the place where you could forgive them?
  6. How has God’s forgiveness affected your willingness to forgive?

Life Application: Who is someone you need to either offer forgiveness or receive forgiveness from? What steps can you take to help reconcile that relationship?
