From “How” to Victory!

Big Idea:

You don’t have to understand the “how” to walk in victory!

Key Scriptures:

2 Corinthians 4:17-18

John 9:1-3

John 9:6-7

John 9:25

John 7:7

Romans 13:11-14

Isaiah 59:2

Acts 8:3-4

Questions for Discussion

Getting to Know You: What sight would you tell a person healed from blindness to go and see first?

  1. Victory is having peace, joy and confidence in Jesus despite our circumstance. What victory (or victories) have you experienced in your lifetime?
  2. Read 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 together. How do these verses challenge common ideas of success? What are some practical ways we can fix our eyes on what is eternal as opposed to what we can physically see?
  3. Why do you think Jesus healed the blind man in the manner He did? What can we learn about Jesus through this story? What can we learn from the response of the blind man to what Jesus said & did?
  4. How do we obtain the “clothing” mentioned in Romans 13:14? How would your life – and witness – be different if you consciously tried to “wear” Jesus everywhere you went?
  5. Recap the three steps we need to follow in order to quit living in the “how” and, instead, walk in victory. Do you think one of these steps is harder than the others?
  6. How could you encourage a friend or loved one if they are stuck in a trying situation? What would you say to help them walk in victory?

Life Application: Is God challenging you to release the “how” and step out in victory despite your circumstances? What are the steps you need to take in your personal situation?
