Transforming Stressing to Blessing
Sunday, January 19, 2025

Big Idea:

If we will turn all our worries, burdens, and problems over to Jesus, He promises to turn our stressing into blessing.

Key Scriptures:

Psalm 23

Romans 8:32

James 1:5

Matthew 5:11-12

Matthew 11:29

Questions for Discussion:

Getting to Know You: With what formulas for dealing with stress were you raised? “Forget it”? “Pray about it”? “Sleep on it”?

  1. What did Pastor Doug say in his message that stood out to you the most?
  2. Read Psalm 23 in the negative (“The Lord is not my shepherd…”). What verse is most disturbing?
  3. How has God rescued or protected you in the past with His “rod and staff”?
  4. What “green pastures and still waters”  has He brought your way?
  5. When have you prayed for and received God’s wisdom? Why does Godly wisdom bring peace to stressful circumstances?
  6. Share with the group the one thing that is most likely to cause stress in your life right now.

Life Application: Take a personal stress inventory. How does the wisdom of Psalm 23 speak directly to those things causing stress and anxiety in your life? Start each day with a prayer of confession that Jesus is Lord and acknowledge His love and sovereignty over your life.
