Messages From The Cross
The Message of Forgiveness
Sunday, April 27, 2025

Big Idea:

Forgiveness is a powerful message from the cross. God forgives instantly and completely. He didn’t design us to harbor guilt.

Key Scriptures:

Luke 22:32-37

Psalm 32:3,5

Proverbs 28:13

Proverbs 19:3

Psalm 51:1-6

James 5:16

1 John 1:9

Romans 5:9-12

Questions for Discussion:

Getting to Know You: What is something you did as a kid that you weren’t supposed to do, but never got caught?

  1. What stood out to you most from Sunday’s message?
  2. What is something from your past that has “resurrected itself” from time to time?
  3. Why do we tend to rationalize our sin rather than confess it? What does this tendency reveal about our sinful nature?
  4. Read Proverbs 19:3. Have you ever done something foolish and then blamed the Lord? What did you learn from that mistake?
  5. What is the difference in being forgiven and accepting forgiveness?
  6. Why do you think James encourages us to confess our sins to one another (James 5:16)? What does this look like in practical terms?
  7. Read Romans 5:9-11 together. What do these passages teach us about Christ’s atonement and forgiveness?

Life Application: Have you received the forgiveness of God through the atonement of Christ? Take a few moments and reflect on the greatness of God’s love, mercy, and grace in making the provision for your sin to be forgiven.
