The Message of Forgiveness
Sunday, April 27, 2025
Big Idea:
Forgiveness is a powerful message from the cross. God forgives instantly and completely. He didn’t design us to harbor guilt.
Key Scriptures:
Questions for Discussion:
Getting to Know You: What is something you did as a kid that you weren’t supposed to do, but never got caught?
- What stood out to you most from Sunday’s message?
- What is something from your past that has “resurrected itself” from time to time?
- Why do we tend to rationalize our sin rather than confess it? What does this tendency reveal about our sinful nature?
- Read Proverbs 19:3. Have you ever done something foolish and then blamed the Lord? What did you learn from that mistake?
- What is the difference in being forgiven and accepting forgiveness?
- Why do you think James encourages us to confess our sins to one another (James 5:16)? What does this look like in practical terms?
- Read Romans 5:9-11 together. What do these passages teach us about Christ’s atonement and forgiveness?
Life Application: Have you received the forgiveness of God through the atonement of Christ? Take a few moments and reflect on the greatness of God’s love, mercy, and grace in making the provision for your sin to be forgiven.
