Questions for Discussion

Getting to Know You: Have you ever traveled to a place where you did not speak the language? What happened?

  1. Read Acts 2:1-13 together. If you were one of the crowd gathered outside the upper room, what would have been your reaction to what you overheard? How would you have reacted if you were in the upper room with the early followers of Christ?
  2. Do you agree that the baptism in the Holy Spirit is a secondary experience following salvation? Why or why not?
  3. What does it mean that speaking in other tongues after being filled with the Holy Spirit is the Biblical “norm?”
  4. What does it mean to be a Pentecostal church?
  5.  Discuss some possible reasons that some Christians might have for being reluctant in seeking the baptism in the Holy Spirit.
  6.  How is baptism in the Holy Spirit similar to water baptism? How is it different?

Life Application: If you have not yet been baptized in the Holy Spirit, what might be preventing you from receiving this promise from Christ?
